Experimenting with some more texturing using my beloved silk screen papers. I like the kind of "rough" surface and gives the painting as opposed to some of my older work which is very "polished". A bit like the surface of old traditional paintings.
Maybe you remember my "Neuntoeter" painting. This is a bit similar, I try to combine nature or in this case animals and a traditional portrait or character painting bringing something new to it. In this case I thought the scorpions would make some nice decor or jewellery and at the same time the character of the animals would reflect in the woman's face and in the whole color and mood of the painting.
Scorpions naturally are supposed to be dangerous and maybe not beautiful in the traditional sense but I tried to make them so.
I'd like the viewer to look at the image and find it "disturbingly beautiful"
